US driveway planning
Editorial Policy and Price Methodology
How Driveway Cost Guide chooses published price ranges, calculates examples, reviews articles and separates editorial guidance from commercial links.
Our aim is to help homeowners compare driveway options and contractor quotes using clear assumptions. We explain where a price range comes from, what it includes and where a real project may differ.
How we build cost examples
- Choose a defined scopeWe distinguish a new installation, a full replacement, an overlay and maintenance. A low resurfacing rate is not used as the price of a new driveway.
- Review public guidanceWe use named, linked sources and compare their scope and range before selecting a planning band.
- Show the arithmeticFor a size example, we multiply the stated square-foot area by the installed planning range. We do not quietly add material and labor a second time.
- Explain uncertaintySite preparation, drainage, local labor, disposal and material choices can put a real quote outside the examples.
Updates and corrections
We show the month when price guidance was reviewed on each cost guide. Figures can become outdated, so we revisit the source and scope when updating a page. If an error is found, we correct the article and its calculation rather than changing the date alone.
Images and illustrative examples
Photographs are credited where possible and illustrate a material or driveway setting. A picture is not evidence of what that property paid. Worked dimensions such as a 40-by-15-foot driveway are examples, not measurements from the photo.
Commercial relationships
Our contractor-matching form is provided by Networx, and Driveway Cost Guide may receive compensation for successful referrals. We identify that commercial relationship beside the form. Compensation does not change our published planning calculations, turn an estimate into a bid or determine whether a particular contractor is right for a homeowner. Readers should compare itemized local proposals.
Questions, corrections and feedback can be sent to contact@drivewaycostguide.com.
Limits of the information
Published prices and general construction descriptions cannot replace a qualified site assessment. The proposed layer thickness, load, drainage and permits should be decided for your location and documented in a contractor quote.
